Marksmanship lanyards, of semi-bright aluminium cord, had various designs (eg the army eagle in a shield, etc) and were awarded for shooting proficiency. They were worn on full dress uniform. This plaque is missing its lanyard.
It is in fairly good shape, although two of its fixing pins on the reverse have been broken off and there is some wear and tear evident on the sword blades of the design.
