Title Pioneer dress bayonet
Nationality German
Period c 1935
Sold

An uncommon (in 35 years of dealing, I have only seen three or four) version of the standard dress bayonet, with combat type pommel, brown dress frog, NCO's knot, but no quillon. Maker marked to: E.&F. Horster.

The nickel silver finish is in good order, both on hilt and blade, except for a small patch of rust and minor lifting to the plating on the guard. All original paintwork to the scabbard.

Sword arrived today. Fabulous. This is an excellent example of a fighting sword of its period, and a real gem. The 1828 Pattern is such a gorgeous sword, and this is a fine example. Even my bride is impressed and she doesn’t really get swords.
