Title Pioneer bayonet for Schmidt-Rubin carbine, 1911 model
Nationality Swiss
Period c 1931
Sold

The 1911 carbine was a straight pull bolt action magazine rifle, an excellent design. Regular infantry and artillery units wore this with a steel scabbard, the leather one being only for Pioneer/engineer units. This example has iron fittings throughout.

This example has a blade with most of its factory finish and is marked 'Elsener Schwyz'. The steel scabbard has lost all of its blue finish, leaving it with a rather brushed, matte look. The wood grips are in excellent condition, with a small half-inch scar on the obverse. The iron mounts are very lightly patinated.

Bayonet arrived safe + sound this AM Sat. Special delivery excellent again. Worth the few extra bob. To be honest it was better than I dared hope. I usually avoid polished bits like the plague!! Your price was a bit fierce!! - but a great marking I lacked... Please email me anytime you have anything that might be of interest.
