Title Pioneer bayonet for Schmidt-Rubin carbine, 1911 model
Nationality Swiss
Period 1935
Sold

The 1911 carbine was a straight pull bolt action magazine rifle, an excellent design. Regular infantry and artillery units wore this with a steel scabbard, the leather one being only for Pioneer/engineer units. This example has chrome fittings throughout.

The blade has been sharpened for field service and there is only minor abrasion to the finish overall. The scabbard leather is in good shape with minor age wear. The walnut grips are in good condition with a small age split to one side.

My order arrived this morning, thanks for the prompt delivery.

Two excellent original pieces, I must say.

Buckle is in minty condition retaining so much detail esp plummage on eagle's neck and chest, like to see those 'creases' on the legs also... a beautiful example of an early O&C buckle.

Belt is very interesting, rather thin, CROUPON stamped and also behind the tongue...maybe Allegmeine but no SS markings as you state. Beautiful piece none the less.

Thanks for a speedy transaction Chris, I am very happy with my purchase :)
