Title NSKK dagger with hanging strap and belt loop
Nationality German
Period 1939
Sold

This is an RZM marked blade, dated 1939, by Gustav Spitzer of Solingen. These daggers were worn by the motorised elements of the Storm Troops in the 1930s. They were responsible for training the motor transport section of the German army, eg motor cycles, trucks and, during the war, tank crews.

The paintwork on the scabbard is in excellent shape, retaining some 90%+ original finish, with no modern repaint applied. The grip is a nice fruitwood example. The scabbard mounts are steel with an EPNS finish. The hilt mounts are pot metal, also with an EPNS finish, largely intact but with some bubbling apparent. The grip eagle is an EPNS variety rather than the later aluminium type. Altogether a fine example of an RZM NSKK dagger.

My order arrived this morning, thanks for the prompt delivery.

Two excellent original pieces, I must say.

Buckle is in minty condition retaining so much detail esp plummage on eagle's neck and chest, like to see those 'creases' on the legs also... a beautiful example of an early O&C buckle.

Belt is very interesting, rather thin, CROUPON stamped and also behind the tongue...maybe Allegmeine but no SS markings as you state. Beautiful piece none the less.

Thanks for a speedy transaction Chris, I am very happy with my purchase :)
