Title Mutterkreuz in gold, 2nd model
Nationality German
Period c 1938-45
Sold

This was awarded to women for bearing eight or more children. The series of awards in bronze, silver and gold were designed by the architect Franz Berberich. Only the gold example was issued in a leatherette box. It is one of a handful of awards bearing Hitler's signature in facsimile.

The lid has the maker's name 'Franz Relschauer // Oberstein // Nahe' printed on the rayon lining. The condition of the cross is excellent - no enamel damage and pristine gilt finish. The ribbon is clean if somewhat creased and slightly stained with age. The base of the box interior has some foxing and the corners are a little worn and scuffed with age/use.

Yes, arrived safe and sound, very nice, and very interesting. Have a couple of friends in the States slavering over the pictures, one of them loves searching old lists, etc. If I can tie it down more definitely will let you know.
