Title Musketon bayonet, model 1892
Nationality French
Period c 1900
Sold

This is a slightly later model of the original bayonet (which would have had wood grips) with composition grips, probably hard rubber of some sort. Matching markings to the scabbard and quillon. The scabbard would appear to have most of its orignal blueing. This was the bayonet for the carbine version of the Lebel rifle carried in both world wars.

There is a little rust to the rivets holding the grips and some consequent minor damage to the grips themselves, otherwise excellent.

Just a brief note to confirm that the sabre has been delivered today. All is as it should be. I have to say I’m impressed with the ‘custom’ packaging, obviously essential in your line of business. I have made a very quick inspection of the sword & it fully lives up to your accurate description, very pleased with the purchase.
