Title Miniature propelling pencil in pistol form
Nationality British
Period c 1860
Sold

This little pencil (5.5cm long when fully extended) is in the form of a ring-trigger pepperpot revolver, perhaps something like a Cooper's Patent type. It has a walnut butt with nickel silver metal fittings. The gunsight at the end of the barrel is in the form of a tiny turquoise inset at the muzzle.

The barrel rotates to extend the pencil, which currently contains a small piece of lead. I am not sure how the lead would be inserted or removed.

My guess is that the piece is of British origin, but it is possible that it is French or Belgian. Its condition is nice.
