Title Miniature general assault pin
Nationality German
Period c 1940-45
Sold

The badge, for which this pin is the miniature, was instituted on 1 June 1940. It was originally intended as the engineers' assault badge, but was quickly redesignated to include members of the artillery, anti-tank and anti-aircraft units and battlefield medics who served with the infantry and armour in an auxilliary role during an assault.

It is a nice example, with virtually all its silver plate finish intact. The details is so good that you can even see the stipple finish between the two tips of the oak leaf wreath. One of the nicest miniature pins of this type that I've seen for a long while.

Its condition is excellent: a somewhat tarnished finish, easily cleaned off with ammonia and soap, should you want to. I would discourage the use of abrasive polishes on this type of badge, as you never know how thin the layer of plate actually is.

This badge is 1.6cm high (excluding the pin).

A quick note to let you know I received the two painted truncheons today and both arrived in good nick!

I'm very pleased with them and they will be a nice addition to my collection!

The package arrived today, and the two items are nice. The Mother Cross actually looks a lot better in person than in the pics.
