These epaulettes, with the dark blue piping and the gilt finish aesculapius of the Medical Corps, are distinguished as field epaulettes by being finished in dulled aluminium bullion, as opposed to the bright finish of the parade examples. The rank is that of 2nd Lieutenant (viz no pips).
The condition is excellent, though it would appear that they have seen some field use as there are signs of slight service wear throughout.
