Title Mecklenburg officer's sword knot
Nationality German
Period c 1880
Sold

This knot would have been worn by army officers in Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Mecklenberg-Strelitz, a small German dukedom on the Baltic. These knots rarely appear on the Anglo-American market and, when they do, are rarely recognised for what they are.

There is a small patch of damage/corrosion on one part of the strap, together with a little tarnishing throughout, but essentially it is in excellent shape for its age.

Thank you, Chris. All arrived safely. Very quickly too, much quicker than from the US! Very satisfied. It is a nice sword.

Anyway, thanks again and I have marked your site for future interest.
