Title Mahratta Horse Gurz (mace)
Nationality Indian
Period 18th century
Sold

This is the classic cavalry weapon of Hindu India, used by the Mahrattas in their perennial struggle with Islamic aggressors and later even against the British. It is an all-iron construction which has obviously seen substantial battlefield use, to whit the brazing repairs on the main flanges.

It measures 92cm long and has been carefully hand cleaned. The Muslim maces, by comparison, are usually half this size and of somewhat heavier construction, more akin to a West European cavalry mace.

Found the item a little on the expensive side and a bit disappointed that you were unwilling to bend a bit on the price of the Officer's Tunic Eagle (half the fun of buying, after all, is the haggling), but impressed by the speed of delivery and the quality of the item. Was well worth it in the long run...
