Title London Irish sergeant's cross belt plate
Nationality British
Period c 1861-1900
Sold

This would have been worn on a brown leather cross belt with a pouch attached with either a bugle horn or the harp of Erin mounted on the pouch. In the early period, many of these rifle volunteers had brown leather belts, later replaced by black patent leather. The officer's version of this plate was normally hallmarked silver.

It has had a silvered finish, most of which has worn off on the front, although traces of which can be clearly seen on the reverse.
