Title Inter-service division whaler medal, RNVR (Sussex Division)
Nationality British
Period 1954
Price £25.00

The medal (diameter 33mm) shows a whaling crew race with a warship in the background. The whaler, normally manned by a crew of 12 oarsmen, was a small sailing boat used for ship's landing parties. The name 'whaler' derives from the type of boat used in harpoon expeditions against whales principally in the 19th century.

The medal is maker marked 'Pinchers, London' on the obverse.

The reverse of the medal shows the badge of the Sussex Divsion of the RNVR mounted as a mini medallion within the main medal.

The medal is struck in silver and is in GVF condition.

All these RND/RNVR medals came together from one source.

The buckle arrived today in good order. Many thanks. I will keep an eye on your website for other buckles that may interest me...

Hanger arrived safe and sound 11.30ish today. Very pleased, it's as expected. Your excellent pics make all the difference in terms of confident buying over the net. As a matter of interest, the frog, which as you said is very a/f, is, as you thought, 'spot on'. On closer inspection it is a mk.1 Naval Frog, designated 'for cutlasses'. Date seems around 1860ish give or take.

By the way, I think your site is very user friendly. Seems to work much better than many and up to date, a rarity!!!
