Title Infantry officer's sword
Nationality British
Period c 1760
Sold

Nice example of a three-quarter basket hilt of French and Indian War vintage, also used in the American Revolutionary War. Iron hilt with serpent-head engraving at various junction points on the guard and to the counter guard terminals. Fine ray skin grip with original wire binding. Nice, clean blade with no obvious defects.

There is minor patination to the whole of the iron guard, with the exception of the pommel.

My order arrived this morning, thanks for the prompt delivery.

Two excellent original pieces, I must say.

Buckle is in minty condition retaining so much detail esp plummage on eagle's neck and chest, like to see those 'creases' on the legs also... a beautiful example of an early O&C buckle.

Belt is very interesting, rather thin, CROUPON stamped and also behind the tongue...maybe Allegmeine but no SS markings as you state. Beautiful piece none the less.

Thanks for a speedy transaction Chris, I am very happy with my purchase :)

Anyway, thanks again and I have marked your site for future interest.
