Title Hunting hanger
Nationality German
Period c 1900
Sold

This weapon was traditionally carried by huntsmen for finishing off wounded game, principally wild boar, deer and stags. It is a typical Solingen product with a stag horn grip and white metal mounts. It has an 18-inch blade, double-edged at the point.

The hilt is in quite good shape, but the blade has suffered - corrosion damage when engraved at the factory perhaps, or lack of care after use on wounded beasts! However, the blade is still fully functional.

I recieved the medal today and I am very pleased with the quality. It is in excellent condition, both the medal and the ribbon, for an original.

Found the item a little on the expensive side and a bit disappointed that you were unwilling to bend a bit on the price of the Officer's Tunic Eagle (half the fun of buying, after all, is the haggling), but impressed by the speed of delivery and the quality of the item. Was well worth it in the long run...
