Title Helmet plate
Nationality Italian
Period c 1914-18
Price £30.00

This is perhaps a commemorative device, possibly indicating an award of some sort, which could have been placed on the Adrian helmet that the Italians wore in WW1. It was a direct copy of the French helmet. I think it is Italian because of the crown and the general design has a marked Italian feel.

It measures approximately 4 x 8 cms and has a gentle curve, clearly designed, in my opinion, to fit the front of a steel helmet.

There are two brass prongs on the reverse, one of which is slightly damaged.

By the way, as ever, please correct me if I am wrong about this badge.

Bayonet arrived safe + sound this AM Sat. Special delivery excellent again. Worth the few extra bob. To be honest it was better than I dared hope. I usually avoid polished bits like the plague!! Your price was a bit fierce!! - but a great marking I lacked... Please email me anytime you have anything that might be of interest.
