Title Glengarry badge, 106th Bombay Light Infantry
Nationality British Empire
Period c 1861-81
Sold

This nicely struck badge was worn by the 106th Bombay Light Infantry between 1861 and 1881. In 1881, they became the 2nd Battalion Durham Light Infantry, which continued until 1948 when it was amalgamated with the 1st battalion. Formerly, pre 1861, they were the 2nd Bombay European Regiment.

The original lugs have been carefully removed and resoldered, using silver solder, at some point in the recent past to restore the badge. It appears to have had very little use, but it is unquestionably a period example and, in my opinion, the restoration does not detract in a major way from the value of the object.

My order arrived this morning, thanks for the prompt delivery.

Two excellent original pieces, I must say.

Buckle is in minty condition retaining so much detail esp plummage on eagle's neck and chest, like to see those 'creases' on the legs also... a beautiful example of an early O&C buckle.

Belt is very interesting, rather thin, CROUPON stamped and also behind the tongue...maybe Allegmeine but no SS markings as you state. Beautiful piece none the less.

Thanks for a speedy transaction Chris, I am very happy with my purchase :)

Thank you. I have received the bayonet. It is indeed in excellent condition and miracle! It fits my antique P53 perfectly.
