Title German-Austrian lapel badge
Nationality German
Period 1914
Price £15.00

This medal commemorates the summer of 1914, when Austria and Germany went to war against the world. It measures 26mm across. Beneath the image of the two emperors, Kaiser Bill and Kaiser Franz-Josef, there is the inscription 'viribus-unitis [with combined forces] // 1914'. Viribus-unitis was also the name of the famous Austrian battleship.

The image is on paper and the backing and mount are tin with a silvered finish, with a brass pin. Its condition is excellent for its age, with a little fading of the image and minor corrosion to the metalwork. The badge moves around on the pin.

My order arrived this morning, thanks for the prompt delivery.

Two excellent original pieces, I must say.

Buckle is in minty condition retaining so much detail esp plummage on eagle's neck and chest, like to see those 'creases' on the legs also... a beautiful example of an early O&C buckle.

Belt is very interesting, rather thin, CROUPON stamped and also behind the tongue...maybe Allegmeine but no SS markings as you state. Beautiful piece none the less.

Thanks for a speedy transaction Chris, I am very happy with my purchase :)
