This nice example is quite rare as it has the early pattern extended ears on the muzzle ring, together with the metal flashguard on the back of the grip. These bayonets were carried as rank insignia by NCOs and also, more practically, by Pioneer units for clearing wire entanglement posts, etc. It has a nice set of walnut grips. Most of the original factory blueing remains to the front of the scabbard. There is some corrosion to the top half of the back of the scabbard, which could be improved with a careful hand clean. |
