Title Edward VII Coronation medal miniature
Nationality British
Period 1902
Sold

This is the miniature of the commemorative medal given to military and civilian personnel for the coronation of Edward VII in 1902. This particular example, remarkably, has the signature of the sculptor (Fuchs) behind the king's head, as well as the date 1901.

It has the original silk ribbon and two rather splendid gold pins on the back, I suspect for a court official, as (a) it is court mounted, and (b) the gold pins suggest that gold has been used deliberately to avoid tarnishing and thus marking the uniform, presumably scarlet.

The condition is virtually EF. The dark look of the medal is natural age tarnishing of the silver, not artificially induced.

I am more and more pleased with the sword, and am wondering whether to do an article on it...

Found the item a little on the expensive side and a bit disappointed that you were unwilling to bend a bit on the price of the Officer's Tunic Eagle (half the fun of buying, after all, is the haggling), but impressed by the speed of delivery and the quality of the item. Was well worth it in the long run...
