The Duke of Atholl was the only man in Britain allowed to raise a private army, so this might well be for his unit. However, other members of his clan/family would have been entitled to wear this.
It would appear to be made of base metal with an EPNS finish and measures 4.25cm across.
Its condition is excellent for its age, with a little bleeding to the plating on the chest of the male figure. The reverse is somewhat scarred from old silver tests.
