Title Dragoon officer's sword
Nationality Scandinavian
Period c 1815
Sold

This sword, which on reflection could be Swedish (viz the ordnance punch to the quillon), has a finely engraved blade with neoclassical motifs (viz a set of fasces) and is obviously a clone of the French Light Cavalry officer's sword, albeit with a typical pallasch-type blade.

There has been some restoration to the nose of the grip (using some sort of plastic wood), and clearly the sword has been disassembled in order to do this. However, there is no indication that the brass hilt and the blade don't belong together. The blade is massive (36.5").
