The DAF took over from the unions all over Germany in factories and warehouses of medium to large firms. They were responsible for producing guards at work premises and latterly helping, along with the Luftschutz, to organise air raid protection drills, etc.
This badge is stamped on the reverse with the RZM insignia, indicating that the Party tax has been paid, and a serial number, perhaps denoting a product line from the company which produced the piece.
It appears to be a rayon badge with a yellow woven design sitting within a gilt surround and on a magnetic tin back with a polished zinc finish. It is 5.5cm high. It has its original brass prongs on the back, soldered into position. Its condition is excellent, with a little age staining.
