Title Corsican stiletto
Nationality French
Period c 1830
Sold

This is the cacciatorre Mediterranean knife found all over the western Mediterranean, but principally in Corsica and Sardinia. The mounts are white metal, possibly low grade silver. The grip is ebony and the scabbard is fine calf leather on a wood body. The blade is 5.5" long. It is the classic vendetta knife of the region.

The condition is excellent with a little restoration evident at the pommel and it has 70% of its original lead polish finish to the blade.

My order arrived this morning, thanks for the prompt delivery.

Two excellent original pieces, I must say.

Buckle is in minty condition retaining so much detail esp plummage on eagle's neck and chest, like to see those 'creases' on the legs also... a beautiful example of an early O&C buckle.

Belt is very interesting, rather thin, CROUPON stamped and also behind the tongue...maybe Allegmeine but no SS markings as you state. Beautiful piece none the less.

Thanks for a speedy transaction Chris, I am very happy with my purchase :)
