Title Connaught Rangers silk embroidered postcard
Nationality French
Period c 1914-18
Sold

This card (one of seven) was a souvenir from France, sent by Sapper Len Pettet to his wife Rose. His rank of Sapper is visible at the top of the back of some the cards, along with his army number.

The handwriting is all in pencil, but quite legible, and mostly concerns domestic events. His name doesn't show on this card, although if the paper label could be carefully removed it might emerge. It is, however, visible on several of the others.

The condition is good for its age. However, this whole series had been mounted on board, from which it has been carefully removed, leaving some scars on the reverse as well as remains of mounting paper. The postcard itself is in good order on account of having a slight glaze over the mount, and the silk is in nice, bright order.

If you want to comment on this item—re quality, age, etc—please email me.
