Title Brass-hilted sawback hanger
Nationality British
Period c 1760
Price £350.00

This hanger, almost certainly of military or naval origin, is an exceptionally clean example with a 24" sawback blade and a staghorn grip. Typically they would have been used in the Seven Years War, as well as in the US War of Independence. It would have been carried in a brass-mounted leather scabbard, now sadly lacking.

The grip is in good shape, without any visible faults. The peening of the tang appears undisturbed. There is a nicely finished lap weld at the forte of the blade. However, there are about nine or so edge nicks towards the point. The saw teeth are still surprisingly sharp!

The day the blunderbuss arrives I could not stop looking and feeling the gun for at least one hour. My wife told me that I was sick........ I am very happy, it is a piece of craftsmanship! Well made! I have 5 blunderbusses but all iron barrel, also from England but this one is gorgeous with the Brass Barrel.

Please keep me informed when you have any other type of blunderbuss. Thanks my friend!
