Title Bourbon infantry briquet, AN X1 model
Nationality French
Period c 1824
Sold

This is marked, very faintly, on the spine 'Manufacture Royale de Chatelerault 1824(?)'. The scabbard has the frog loop placed somewhat higher on the top mount than on the Napoleonic examples. This minor alteration took place after Waterloo. There is a unit mark punched into the obverse knuckle bow.

The blade measures 23.5" and is in reasonable shape, with a few small patches of pitting near the point. There is some minor bruising on the back of the hilt, together with a few small dings around the pommel. The scabbard is in good shape with some minimal bruising to the mounts and crazing of the leather. The seam is intact. The tang button has a nice age patina.

Just a short note to let you know that I have collected the Police fur cap this morning from the Post Office. I am really happy with it, and for sure I will give a thumbs-up to your service. This was the first item I ever bought from you, and I hope it will not be the last.
