This Berlin factory marked (impressed sceptre) bisque porcelain plaque in a box has, on the obverse, an image of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, an iconic motif of the city. This would probably have been made as a piece for the tourists of the era. The plaque is marked on the reverse, 'BERLIN 1959'. The inside of the box lid has been damaged somewhat - a bogus label had been stuck in and has been rather roughly removed. There is no damage to the porcelain, although there is a tiny brown mark (seemingly on the surface of the glaze) on the top edge near the left corner). |
