This came into service circa 1915 for the WW1 German Mauser carbine. A flash guard was fitted to the back of the grips to protect them from muzzle flash. It was the prototype for the famous K98 bayonet of WW2. Nice walnut grips (with minor swelling from damp to one), reasonable blade, maker marked and dated (see photos). |
