Title Bavarian infantry officer's sword
Nationality German
Period c 1910
Sold

This was the regulation infantry officer's sword for this state (ie Bavaria) as per the 1907 regulations, with black painted hilt and scabbard (some paintwork renewed). The blade is etched on both sides with 'In Treue Fest' among sprays of oak leaves, with the Bavarian coat of arms on one side only. There is no maker's mark.

This derives from the Austrian infantry pattern of the mid-19th century and, on account of its relatively small size, it is almost certainly a Great War piece.

My order arrived this morning, thanks for the prompt delivery.

Two excellent original pieces, I must say.

Buckle is in minty condition retaining so much detail esp plummage on eagle's neck and chest, like to see those 'creases' on the legs also... a beautiful example of an early O&C buckle.

Belt is very interesting, rather thin, CROUPON stamped and also behind the tongue...maybe Allegmeine but no SS markings as you state. Beautiful piece none the less.

Thanks for a speedy transaction Chris, I am very happy with my purchase :)
