Title Artillery officer's sword, 1854 model
Nationality German
Period c 1910
Sold

Marked on the hilt 'F.A.46', the sword blade is engraved on one side with Lower Saxon Field Artillery Regiment No. 46 (in German) and on the other with a depiction of a field artillery team. The black painted scabbard (of which 90% of the original finish remains) indicates a post-1907 date.

This sword was probably the property of a 'Einjaeriger', a one-year volunteer from the middle classes, who served as a trooper, but had the right and the means to wear a sword of this quality when off duty, hence the regimental stamps on the back of the guard.

The EPNS finish to the hilt is somewhat worn. There is a good leather grip.

The day the blunderbuss arrives I could not stop looking and feeling the gun for at least one hour. My wife told me that I was sick........ I am very happy, it is a piece of craftsmanship! Well made! I have 5 blunderbusses but all iron barrel, also from England but this one is gorgeous with the Brass Barrel.

Please keep me informed when you have any other type of blunderbuss. Thanks my friend!
