This is the ersatz version made in the closing years of WW2 without a fuller or a quillon to economise on production costs. The rifle was the classic 6mm Japanese Mauser. There are arsenal marks on the base of the blade and the grips are hardwood, rivetted into position. The pommel has medium surface rust and pitting. However, the bayonet button functions effectively and the blade is fairly clean, although it has some severe polishing at some stage. |
