Title Arisaka-Mauser bayonet
Nationality Japanese
Period 1944/5
Sold

This is the ersatz version made in the closing years of WW2 without a fuller or a quillon to economise on production costs. The rifle was the classic 6mm Japanese Mauser. There are arsenal marks on the base of the blade and the grips are hardwood, rivetted into position.

The pommel has medium surface rust and pitting. However, the bayonet button functions effectively and the blade is fairly clean, although it has some severe polishing at some stage.

Found the item a little on the expensive side and a bit disappointed that you were unwilling to bend a bit on the price of the Officer's Tunic Eagle (half the fun of buying, after all, is the haggling), but impressed by the speed of delivery and the quality of the item. Was well worth it in the long run...
