Title 1859 Campaign of Italy medal
Nationality French
Period 1859
Price £50.00

This is Napoleon III's medal for the 1859 campaign, mostly fought in northern Italy against Austrian troops. On the reverse is 'Campagne d'Italie' with the names of six battles, including Magenta and Solferino, perhaps the most famous one. The artist's signature is below the emperor's bust, which is surrounded by the logo 'Napoleon III empereur'.

The condition is GVF. There is some old tarnish to the piece and the ribbon is slightly soiled, though better than it appears in the picture, but it is at least the original ribbon.

I have in the last six months inherited my late father Alan Swain's police memorabilia collection along with much paperwork receipts etc. I would like to pass on to you my thanks for such good dealership with my father going back to the late 80s and well into the 1990s.
