Title 53rd Foot glengarry badge, OR's (Fox's re-strike)
Nationality British
Period c 1889-1902
Price £30.00

The original badges were in service 1874-1881. Mr Fox's re-strikes were produced from original dies c 1889-1902 to satisfy the demand of collectors at that time, and were quite faithful to the originals, except for the placing of the lugs at the middle, rather than North/South as on the originals.

The price of this nice, sharp example reflects this difference. It is 6.5cm tall, struck in yellow brass.

My order arrived this morning, thanks for the prompt delivery.

Two excellent original pieces, I must say.

Buckle is in minty condition retaining so much detail esp plummage on eagle's neck and chest, like to see those 'creases' on the legs also... a beautiful example of an early O&C buckle.

Belt is very interesting, rather thin, CROUPON stamped and also behind the tongue...maybe Allegmeine but no SS markings as you state. Beautiful piece none the less.

Thanks for a speedy transaction Chris, I am very happy with my purchase :)
