Title 3rd Foot officer's shoulder belt plate
Nationality British
Period c 1840
Sold

Last pattern of the 3rd Foot variety, complete with its soft calf leather backing. One ray (at approximately 8 o'clock) has several diamonds missing, otherwise this plate is in superb condition. These plates were worn on a white buff belt by the regimental officers, in order to carry the infantry sword usually on the left hand side.
