Title 2nd pattern RLB dagger
Nationality German
Period c 1939
Sold

Nice example with 22 cm double-edged blade marked Paul Weyersberg & Co, Solingen. The Reichs Luftschutz Bund was the air raid protection service of the Third Reich; the enlisted men and junior NCOs were entitled to wear this dagger, later modified with a different starburst design to the hilt.

Paintwork refinished to body of scabbard; leather washer at base of blade now missing; nice billet clamp seam to both sides of tang; nickel silver finish to all metal mounts; ebony grip. This now has a replacement leather strap of the correct type with a stainless steel loop and a nickel silver belt clip.

Hanger arrived safe and sound 11.30ish today. Very pleased, it's as expected. Your excellent pics make all the difference in terms of confident buying over the net. As a matter of interest, the frog, which as you said is very a/f, is, as you thought, 'spot on'. On closer inspection it is a mk.1 Naval Frog, designated 'for cutlasses'. Date seems around 1860ish give or take.

By the way, I think your site is very user friendly. Seems to work much better than many and up to date, a rarity!!!
