This rare order was given by the Fascist government of Croatia for services in the field to their own troops, also to German armed forces serving in the Balkans, in particular SS Prinz Eugen Mountain Division. This grade is the second highest Order of Zvonimir, being the breast badge version.
The condition is excellent throughout, as is the box, which in itself is rare and is finished in leatherette or a very finely cut calf leather, gold blocked. Apparently, the case is for a 2nd Class Order of Zvonimir, but without swords. No doubt a mix-up in the field somewhere. (Zvonimir is the most important Croatian saint - or king, or both.)
