In 1881 the regimental numbering system was altered and two regiments (27th & 108th) were amalgamated into the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers (a distinguished Northern Irish regiment), so this badge would have been manufactured before then, although its use in the 1st Battalion of the new regiment may have continued. This is a die-struck brass badge with its original brass lugs. The castle of Inniskilling surmounts the garter. The condition is excellent for its age with relatively little wear and tear, just an accumulation of dried metal polish and dirt. |
