This is marked 'L/4' on the reverse, which is for the firm of Steinhauer & Luck of Ludenscheid. This bar was awarded instead of an Iron Cross, 2nd class, 1939 to someone who already had the 1914 cross and was worn pinned on the black and white ribbon in the buttonhole of the recipient. This is the second pattern of this issue. The condition is generally excellent but there is some minor tarnishing and signs of age on the piece. This would remove easily with metal polish, if you so wished. |
