Title 1890 pattern cavalry trooper's sabre
Nationality British
Period c 1890
Sold

Slightly scruffy example of the penultimate Maltese Cross hilt sabre. Numerous issue dates stretching from the mid-1890s until approximately 1906. Forte of blade marked '/90'. Numerous regimental issue stamps and cancellations to back of hilt.

90%+ factory finish to blade with several small patches of pitting towards the point. Chequered leather grips in reasonable condition, but now somewhat smooth from extensive use. Good iron scabbard, which has been recently machine polished, but all markings, including issue date for 1899, to top of scabbard are clearly visible. Point sharpened for first two inches or so of both sides of blade.

The day the blunderbuss arrives I could not stop looking and feeling the gun for at least one hour. My wife told me that I was sick........ I am very happy, it is a piece of craftsmanship! Well made! I have 5 blunderbusses but all iron barrel, also from England but this one is gorgeous with the Brass Barrel.

Please keep me informed when you have any other type of blunderbuss. Thanks my friend!
