Title 1822 pattern Rifle officer's sword
Nationality British
Period c 1930
Sold

Retailer marked 'Pulford & Sons. St. James St. London S.W.' and serial numbered '107948'. The high number would indicate a date from the 1930s rather than earlier, the nice condition of the silver plate bearing this out. Typically, this sword was carried by all light infantry and Rifle regiments and is now carried by the Royal Greenjackets.

There has been some wear to the EPNS finish, in the form of rust under the sword knot, which has now been carefully cleaned off, although some marks remain. The scabbard is almost immaculate - there is one tiny patch of rust at the top of the scabbard by the top ring. The last half of the blade has some minor staining on both sides, some of which is still visible.
