MAGNIFY

This is the last model for the Second Empire under Napoleon III. It is dated 1865 on the reverse and has nice features like the strengthening supports behind the crown, part of the original design. This would have been worn in the 1870/71 war against Prussia and also perhaps in some of France's later colonial campaigns, such as the Mexican War.

This particular example is in very fine shape, almost as struck, but with a little age patination, especially on the numbered ball.
