Title 100th Foot glengarry badge
Nationality British
Period c 1874-81
Sold

The 100th Foot has an ancient lineage, dating back to 1760, going through various disbandings until, in 1858, it was raised as the 100th (Prince of Wales Royal Canadian) Regiment of Foot, in 1881 becoming the 1st Battalion, The Prince of Wales Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians), which was disbanded in 1922 on the partition of Ireland.

The badge is a brass one, which has had its lugs removed, been silvered and had a pin fitting fixed to the reverse, possibly done for an officer or sergeant in period. It is possible that this is a very high quality Indian casting and not a die-struck piece.

The 3 medals have just arrived safely - very interesting. (From your description I was expecting ribbon to be dreadful; personally, I think that the "Russian Front" is beautifully 'aged'.)

Just wanted to thank you very much for finding the sword - you have made C's day and therefore mine!
