Title 1933 pattern Army officer's dagger
Nationality German
Period c 1933-40
Sold

This nice example of an early Eickhorn dagger has heavy quality silver-plate finish to the hilt mounts and scabbard. The scabbard has a few small dents and the grip is a magnificent orange colour. This was the classic dagger which all German army officers wore until c 1943, when pistols replaced them (due to partisan action in occupied territory).

The blade is virtually mint, with all its original polishing marks, and has the early Eickhorn mark (1933-34) etched on the forte. The straps are brass-mounted with remains of silver finish. However, the silver braid has obviously had a hard life and has minor traces of gold paint. There is some loss of silver finish at the edge of the pommel.

Bayonet arrived safe + sound this AM Sat. Special delivery excellent again. Worth the few extra bob. To be honest it was better than I dared hope. I usually avoid polished bits like the plague!! Your price was a bit fierce!! - but a great marking I lacked... Please email me anytime you have anything that might be of interest.
